Windows Live® Search Results Baffin Bay, arm of the North Atlantic Ocean, between Greenland and several large islands of northeastern Canada. It is 1,130 km (700 mi) long and up to 650 km (400 mi) wide. The bay is connected with the Atlantic Ocean by Davis Strait, to the southeast, and with the Arctic Ocean by several channels, to the west and north. Ice floes and icebergs prevent navigation on the bay for about nine months each year. Baffin Bay was visited by the English navigators John Davis in 1585 and William Baffin, for whom it is named, in 1616.
